For Ethiopian Passport holders
All documents such us property rights or transfer,
wedding and divorce certificates, legal representation in courts or
government agencies and Pension have to be
1.
Written in Amharic and bring to the embassy or take it to Notary
Public and sign there to make sure that the said person has correctly
signed then send it to the Consulate General.
2.
A valid passport
3.
Payment of $61.20 in Money order or Cashier's Check for each document.
4.
A pre paid envelope for the return of your document
Authentication of Legal Documents
All
documents, such as adoption, trade-marks, non-governmental organization,
foundation, or individual power of representation, property rights,
court decisions, wedding or divorce certificates, or marital status,
etc. that have to be presented to any government agency in Ethiopia
should be authenticated by the Consulate General of the Federal Democratic
Republic of Ethiopia, Los Angeles California.
Before any of the documents are sent to the
Consulate General, the following process must be completed:
1.
The documents/s has/have to be authenticated by the Secretary of
State of the state in which the organization exists or the individual
lives.
2.
The document has to be sent to and authenticated by the U.S.
Department of State.

For persons of Ethiopian origin
Simple documents such as property rights or transfer,
wedding and divorce certificates, family reunion (passport and visa
processing for minors) or legal representation in courts or government
agencies, etc. should include:
1.
The document has to be written in English and the translation in
Amharic should be attached.
2.
Before you sign the paper take it to a Notary Public and sign
there to make sure that the said person has correctly signed.
3.
Then follow the process indicated in #s 1 – 3 and send it to
the Consulate General with payment.
