Appeal
for Preventing Famine
in
Ethiopia
In
Ethiopia, more than 14 million people have faced starvation
because of the failure of seasonal rains throughout the
country. Despite the effort of the Ethiopian Government
and the international community to overcome the dire effect of
drought, millions of people are still hungry and are
stumbling quickly towards death.
We
believe it is the moral duty of mankind to show compassion and
offer a helping hand to fellow human beings who are in need
of assistance. We
also believe that the smallest donation can give life to the
helpless children who are inches away from the terrible death
of hunger.
To
this effect, the Ethiopian Consulate General Office in Los
Angeles has opened an account for people who are sending
donations to our people affected by the drought and famine.
The donations will be transferred to the Ethiopian
Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission, which is
directly helping victims in the villages and towns
where they live.
Charity
is a virtue of the the heart and lessens no person's living.
